How to Manage LOL Minions Effectively

Every League of Legends (LOL) player should have realized by now that, unless we are in the jungle position, the place where we spend the most time on average in our games is farming gold on each of the lines to prepare for the main decisive matches of a game. Being able to manage LOL minions efficiently is another essential aspect that differentiates the professional from the amateur player.

Most of the players think that it is enough to stay in line for the necessary time without dying and, at the same time, trying to give that last final blow or last hit to the LOL minions, to assure us the small amount of gold that will be decisive in our economy.

But there are much more advanced dynamics that we may not be taking into account in our games and that is decisive to gain an advantage. We are talking about terms like stomps and line freezes, as we will see next.

Everything you need to know about LOL line management and minions

First of all, it is important to understand how minion waves work in LOL. Apart from that, there are many aspects of the game that you must understand. And there's where League of Legends coaching comes very helpful. There are many online resources to get boosting and coaching services.

There are many players who have played hundreds or thousands of games and have not yet achieved sufficient clarity about their detailed operation.

ROLL OF MINION WAVES

Every 30 seconds a wave is launched for each of the three lines. These start from the first minute, which is indicated by the game's broadcast voice.

In each wave, three melee LOL minions and three wizards come out.

Every three waves a siege minion appears, which are the largest and carry a cannon. This changes from minute 15, in which it appears every two waves and finally from minute 25 it appears in all waves.

If we destroy an inhibitor, a super minion will appear on that line, replacing the siege minion. If we destroy all three inhibitors, two minions will spawn in each wave for each line, making it almost impossible to resist the attack and most likely we will lose the game at this point.

We must bear in mind that League of Legends is designed to gradually reduce defenses, as time passes, so that the games do not lengthen too much. This is important given that too long games cause people to quit the game. For this reason, minions often help to push the lines if our team destroys towers and inhibitors at a good pace (which also weaken over time).

The behavior of waves of minions

Another important issue in order to properly handle minions in LOL is knowing how they behave naturally. What they call "the aggro of the minions":

If an enemy attacks us, the minions will automatically come to defend us, stopping what they are doing at that moment. It does not matter if it is a minion that attacks us or another champion, although they always prioritize the champions.

Otherwise, they will attack the closest unit, with another minion always being the preference over a champion.

Knowing this is essential, since we can do some stratagems with the aim of taking advantage online at the expense of our opponent, despite the fact that we face a champion who will counter ours.

How to take advantage of the LOL minions?

When we are online, there are three fundamental things that we have to keep in mind:

It is important to maximize the amount of gold that we take, that is, the number of last hits to the LOL minions that our character performs.

If we push it is because we have guaranteed that we are going to break the tower. This is called “stompear”. It's generally a bad idea, since it exposes us too much to possible surprise jungle attacks, which brings us to the third and final point.

The professionals' secret tactic: freezing the surge

Freezing a wave means making the minions stick together at a certain point on the line, and it takes a long time to finish their fight.

The closer the minions are to our tower, the more the enemy will have to get close to it in order to earn the corresponding gold. The problem is that, when getting so close, there will be a lot of space behind him, with the corresponding risk that we mentioned before: that another champion comes and kills them by surprise. Therefore, the strategy is to have a proper balance of minions and let them run when the enemy is not in their line so that they die against the tower and the enemy does not take the experience or the gold.

So it 's important not to rush into killing the LOL minions - you have to let them automatically die and focus on just hitting them last. And when the enemy goes to base, then we have to hurry so that our allied minions stompe against the tower, eliminating all the enemy minions. If there is an enemy, the more backward our minions are, the better, and if there is not, the later they are dying before the tower, the better. This is the golden rule.
